I'm in love with this cute little blue owl! And she is in love with tea parties, so we are all set and ready to put together this centerpiece!
I started shopping around the house first. Something that, if you know me, always occurs as the first step. I knew in my head, that I wanted the owl to stand tall amongst the flowers, but I didn't want that flowerpot look on the tea table.
I found a round plastic chip & dip bowl, you know, the one where you put the bowl of dip in the center and then the chips surround that bowl?
Then I found a white ceramic bowl that I could flip over and put in the center. And THEN, I found a ceramic 2 tiered stand (meant for jewelry, but hey, I'm a tea party gal) and put that on top of the bowl.
So it looked pretty good, and I snapped a photo with my phone so that I could remember how to reassemble it. I found small potted mums at Kmart and yes, actually planted them in my chip bowl!
If you look closely, you can see the gold speckled plastic chip bowl sitting on the table.
Then the upside down ceramic bowl and jewelry stand on top of that, to create the owl perch.
I twisted the left over beaded garland I used for the napkin rings around the stand to create a tree branch effect. It also added some color to that glaring white in the center. Some silk butterflies are added to the mums and the perch for some whimsy and sparkle.
Here's a shot, looking down at her perch and the flowers.
This shot is from the practice tablesetting I did before I took the tea party on the road to that lovely stonewall location!
I think that it captured the seasonal look perfectly and it was a way to introduce my color scheme and owl theme to the tea party. What do you think?
I'll be posting more about the tea party later in the week, but if you can't wait you can click on the link to the right, the look book link.
And I will be sharing this post on:
